PRACTICE

Use AI sales role-play to practice a real conversation

AI role-play can help you rehearse an opening, practice discovery questions or work through an objection before a real conversation. It works best when you give it a specific situation and treat the result as practice, not a prediction of what your customer will do.

Choose one skill and a realistic scenario

Decide what you want to practice. “Help me sell better” is too broad for a useful rehearsal. “Help me clarify a price objection without immediately discounting” gives you a behavior to work on. Describe the customer’s role, the type of offer, what has already happened and what remains uncertain. Use fictional or anonymized details.

Tell the AI how to play the customer

Ask it to respond one turn at a time and stay in character until you pause. Give it a plausible concern rather than instructing it to resist everything. A role-play that cannot be won may be exhausting without teaching the skill you chose.

“Role-play a purchasing manager considering a new supplier. You like the service proposal, but another option costs less. I want to practice understanding the comparison before defending price. Make one comment or objection at a time, wait for my response, and stay in character until I say pause. Use only fictional details.”

Practice your actual words

Respond as you would in a conversation, not with a description of your strategy. Notice whether your question invites a useful answer. If the AI volunteers information a real buyer would not know, correct the scenario. If it accepts vague claims too easily, ask for a more realistic response. The exercise should challenge your thinking without becoming a guessing game.

Pause for specific feedback

Ask for feedback on the chosen behavior: what you understood, what you assumed and what question could have helped. Do not use a flattering score as evidence that you are ready for every customer. Look for an observable change you can practice again.

“Pause. Where did I assume something about your priorities? Which of my questions helped clarify the decision? Give me one better question and let me retry from that point.”

Take one improvement into the real call

Write down the phrase or question you want to try, then adapt it to the person in front of you. AI cannot know your prospect’s intentions or verify your company’s promises. Do not enter confidential customer, employer or proprietary information. SellB2B AI supports this kind of focused practice within its fair-use limits, using the OPEN, DISCOVER, CLOSE and REPEAT framework.
